Impact of Educational Excellence
Akanksha provides children from India’s low-income communities with a high-quality education at no cost to students. Akanksha started with the simple belief that all children, regardless of their background, have limitless potential and deserve a chance to discover this potential. Akanksha is helping to bridge India’s educational gap through policy reform on a national level and by piloting best in class model schools that develop future global leaders.
Akanksha is the largest urban network of schools under a public private partnership model in India, operating 21 schools across Mumbai and Pune, serving over 8,000 students and 2,500 alumni.
India is not only the world’s largest democracy but is on track to become the nation with the world’s largest population by 2028. India’s population growth and the expansion of India’s consuming class has made it one of the fastest growing emerging markets in the world. However, India’s public education system is failing its students. As a result, only 10% of children complete secondary education and nearly 47% of college graduates are considered unemployable.
The world cannot afford to have India’s citizens be undereducated. Improving India’s education system will not only better the lives of millions of children, but it’s a smart investment in the future of the world’s economy.
