Akanksha Education Fund

Rohaan Bhojwani’s Tablet Fundraiser

My name is Rohaan Bhojwani and I am a 17-year-old student in India.  For the past year, I had been teaching violin to a group of students at the Akanksha Foundation in India, to provide opportunities for them to benefit in the many ways that music training has always helped me. But then came Covid.

My students come from poor families, their parents being daily wage earners. Unfortunately because of the lockdown, they lost their means to income. So I helped raise money for essential services, like food, water, and medicines.

However, school, via remote learning has now begun, and none of my students have a computer or a tablet, so they have no access to learning. In a world where my peers and I have the privilege to continue our education via online mediums, going back to school is a distant dream for these students.

But for as little as US $135 dollars we can change that! For US $135 / hkd 1050 (or whatever you can contribute) we will be able to provide a student with a new tablet, learning apps and wifi connection. We need to provide about 1,000 more students with tablets—1,000 vulnerable children who want—who need—the opportunity to continue their education; to continue learning, and even, to continue their music lessons during these turbulent times.

I know this is a difficult time for everyone, but no donation is too small. Every dollar you contribute will go directly to the purchase of tablets and wifi connections.

So many of us feel powerless during this unprecedented time. But together, we can change a student’s life. And I think that’s pretty powerful.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
