1. Why are you expanding your mission?
Our purpose remains the same – to provide access to holistic education and opportunity for underserved students in India, with the goal of long-term economic mobility.
Through our work with The Akanksha Foundation we realize that alumni have to navigate the complex transition from school to career, and we recognize that learning is a lifelong journey. Graduation is not an endpoint but a launchpad into a future full of possibilities. As their world expands, so does our commitment to supporting them.
As an organization, we are expanding to serve the graduates of Akanksha Foundation schools and more as they move beyond graduation into higher education and employment. We will continue to support Akanksha Foundation’s School Project, and we are evolving to provide resources and support for successful School to Work transitions.
2. What do you mean by School to Work?
The School-to-Work Transition is the process in which young individuals (aged 14 to 25 years) acquire the skills and experience necessary to move from education to stable, satisfactory work while achieving economic mobility, agency, and a sense of passion and purpose.
Currently, The Akanksha Foundation (TAF) schools end at 10th grade. After 10th grade, TAF alumni are supported through the Alumni Support and Engagement program. As they pursue higher education/vocational training and enter the workforce, our goal is to support a bridge to enable a seamless and successful transition to secure employment/career and economic mobility.
3. What will my donation support?
Your contributions will continue to support excellent, holistic education practices through a network of high-performing and innovative schools to empower children and young adults from underserved communities. Your generosity will also help power programs that prepare students for seamless school-to-work transitions. These include career awareness and guidance, financial aid, competitive test preparation, access to internships, and mentoring for alumni from strong foundational public private partnership or government schools. Together, we can transform potential to possibilities and unlock a brighter future for all students.
4. I don’t live in India. How can I help?
